Fabric sunflowers

I tried my hand at some of the fabric flowers after seeing a few other versions of them. It was also a great way to use up some old cans! This first one is made with drop cloth.

This yellow sunflower was made with an old pillowcase fabric that I cut up.

I then painted the fabric with a little yellow paint mixed with some water. I coffee stained the fabrics first and let dry overnight so it had more of a crunchy and wrinkly texture to it.

Read below on how to make these cute fall flowers!

To begin, cut out 4 circles of material all the same size. Then cut out a smaller circle of material for the center. I placed the smaller circle on top of a piece of the larger one and cut my slits for the petals. I used the smaller circle on top just to see how far to cut the petals. Repeat for each larger circle. I then coffee stained them and scrunched them and let them dry overnight. For the sunflower after it dried with the coffee I added some water to some yellow paint and painted them, scrunched them and let dry overnight again. Then hot glue each circle on top of each other in the center. I added a skewer in the middle of the layers as I was gluing the them together. Then I hot glued the center piece of fabric on but leaving a small gap around the edge to put in some stuffing then sealed it up. I did have to tack some of the petals together with hot glue so they wouldnt fold over. I painted the cans, decorated, and added some floral foam and spanish moss to hold the flowers in. Then display as you like!
