Mini lantern ornaments

I came across these little mini lanterns on one of my Pinterest binge days. I just had to make them. Follow along and ill show you step by step on how you can make them too!

I started with these wooden doll pin stands that I picked up from Hobby Lobby.

I also found these mini glass jars with a cork that inside the doll stands perfectly. I did also run across some mini jar ornaments there that were the exact same but also had an eyelet in the cork for hanging. If you can find those they will work perfectly so you dont have to add the eyelet yourself.  If you cant find those dont worry, you can pick some small eyelets up at Hobby Lobby or probably any hardware store.

I also picked up these small wooden rounds at Hobby Lobby. They came in various sizes and worked perfectly to make the tops.

I began by gluing three sizes together with wood glue. I just picked out the sizes that would fit good for the top of the lantern. I used a clamp to hold them in place while they dried.

Next I began painting the doll stands and wood tops that I made with red chalk paint.

I added the small eyelets to the corks by twisting them carefully into the cork. Make sure they are not too long so they dont poke out of the bottom.

These are the ones I found at Hobby Lobby

Using hot glue I glued the corks onto the tops.

I also used some distress ink around the edges to give it some dimension.

Now its time to add the jars. I added some hot glue around the top of the jar and then slid it into the doll pin stand upside down.

They fit perfectly. Next hot glueyour lids to the top of the jar and you are done.

Here is how they came out. I did wind up painting the sides of the corks red because they were just a little tall so it helped the look of it. You could even add some greenery to the tops or decorate them a little.
